SUPERBAND !

YES ! It's Superband 2008 - Singapore 's first large-scale talent competition for bands and singing groups ! And there are 2 groups which i think you guys can keep a lookout for during this whole competition ! =)

The first group is 三月, comprising Fion (Lead Singer), Mark (Keyboard), David (Guitar), Bear (Bass) and Jason (Drums). Well, Mark is my senior from NP Song Composing Club and he is super good with the keyboard, Fion has strong and unique vocals. I think this band is pretty good. Below is a video of their performance @ IMM.

Note: Mark is hidden, but do listen to the keyboard. It's really awesome. And they have made it through Round 1, Do continue to catch them on 14th July (Mon), 8pm on Channel U !

Oh and then the second group 櫻, comprising 小龍(lead singer), 小少(Guitar) 翔(Bass). What's so special about this group is they do their own song arrangements, using just a computer. This group has the personality, looks and they do really good music.

Haha. And 小少, who is also called Simon, was also my senior from NP Song Composing Club. He was known as the "Guitar God" back in those days. Though Simon and Mark are not from the same batch, they knew each other. Simon is good looking right, i bet all the girls will faint upon seeing him. =P

On The Road with Tay Kewei

Shu Ying and I caught Kewei's performance in this afternoon. A short 30 minutes set with her talented band consisting a pianist, guitarist and violinist. The audience enjoyed every bit of it!

They did four songs: 我恨我爱你 - A*Mei，普通朋友-David Tao， 木乃伊- JJ Lin， 月亮代表谁的心- David Tao，a self composed song called 如果 and an encore song 人质-A*Mei. Check out 如果 below. Pretty catchy and soulful!

It's definitely a pleasure to be working with a bunch of fellow music lovers. The whole team is so talented and so so so so GREAT !! And its surely every musician's dream to perform at the Esplanade Concert Hall. Shout-outs to Kewei's team for their successful show!

Oh ! And we had lunch at Singapore Art Cafe, run by the friendly Jonathan, a friend of Shu Ying's. Had a hearty meal there. Awesome place! it is just next to the Esplanade Library. I really love the little stage area for gigs and jamming sessions!

This Thursday the cafe will be having "Spop Open Mic" from 7pm to 9pm. Anyone can just register and sing your favourite Chinese songs on that day !! There will also be "Friday Open Mic" where you can jam on any genre of songs! And IT IS FREE !!! Anyone wanna join ?! Tell me tell me !! =P

A night at Oosh ! =D

On Wednesday, Shuying caught Charles' gig at Oosh Bar @ Dempsey. Really nice cosy ambience to chill out and enjoy good music !

One man show: Charles playing and singing his heart out. Really cool when he uses his loop pedal for beatbox and backup vocals. Super Awesome !!

Talking about concerts, Shuying went to David Tao's "1,2,3 We are all wooden men" World Tour 2008 Singapore. And OH MY GOD !! She was called on stage by David Tao from among 7000 over people in the stadium!! The first and only Singaporean ever! And he serenaded her with his famous hit "沙滩" !!

And OH MY GOD !! That famous hug from him !!!!! Seriously, David Tao is super awesome, with his slick vocals and charming charisma, this is a once-in-a-lifetime, memorable experience for Shu Ying. I totally envy her, and please don't hate her after looking at these pictures and the youtube video =P

Long long post

Hello everyone ! It's me. I have been working full time at The Art of Music for one month already So fast and here i'm blogging,

Today i would like to share some happenings for the past one month at AOM and is super exciting yea !

The Art of Music was one of the sponsors for the International World Pageant 2008. Moreover, AOM was the OFFICIAL TALENT SCHOOL for this event !! That's super awesome !! The event was held on 7th June 2008 and the post pageant gala dinner will be held in Shangri-La Hotel on 5th July 2008 !!

We are proud to announce that the winners will be offered official contracts to be professionally managed as artistes by The Art of Music ! =)

Up next we'll be working with I-glamour Pageant System on talent training for their finalists. During this period of time, we met the Miss Singapore Sweetheart 2007, Clarissa. Oh my goodness ! She is super pretty. And also a very sweet and friendly girl. =)

See ? She looks extremely beautiful in these pictures. Oh ! And Clarissa will be coming down to AOM more often as she will be working with our dance instructor, Maqrius on her upcoming dance performance. Really look forward to meeting her again !! =)

Clarissa is actually a friend of Louis, finalist of "Channel U: U are the one" competition ! Congrats to Louis for making it to the grand final !! He has really put in alot of effort for this competition. Whenever i'm in AOM, i will always be seeing him here training super hard.

Shu Ying and Maqrius were at the backstage with the finalists throughout the show. It was an exciting and interesting experience for both of them. Okay, think thats about it, will be updating real soon about the upcoming events.
