Amos Ang

It's 10.20pm already and I am still at AOM. Settling some admin stuff while listening to Amos practising. Yes.. I know it's sounds incredible that he is practising at AOM at this time straight after coming back from cruise. I hope whatever I talked to him about last week is taking an effect on him. I hope the 'sleeping dragon' has finally awaken from his slumber.

Watching him practise makes anyone understand what the word passion really mean. And passion will continue to drive him, I know that. The important part is he knows what he wants in his pursuits. So watch out for him during the anniversary.. Hahaha..

Life is phenomenal. I am enjoying it every single day.

Quote of the day: The wisest men follow their own direction. - Euripides

Yes.. follow your own direction. Like I told Clara, If it feels good, continue to do it. If it doesn,t then just let it go. Feel good in whatever you do. =)

Grand Teacher for generations

Sorry for taking soo long to post another entry here. I promise this entry will be of some substantial amount so that you all can spend some time here. Haha.. Been really busy these few weeks, with upcoming aniversary and other stuff coming in. But today's topic is not exactly about me being busy.

I used to talk about the most powerful people being able to 'yi de fu ren', which means using your virtues and love to win people over. This includes loving even your enemies. It's easy to talk like that when things are going your way. Of course when you have everything, it does seem like you are able to love anyone, including people who try to bring you down. But yesterday came a big test for me. I found out something and of course I reacted negatively. I think anyone in my shoes wuld have. I felt like I need to learn how to trust some people again. Yet, because of this test, I am finally enlightened. And I thank whoever had made that happen.

I went back and reviewed why I set up The Art of Music in the first place. I realised that it was never about money. It was not about my dreams. It was my passion to share the love for music and to empower students with the right knowledge for music. It was about the students. I was scolded and slammed by my ex-gf for caring and doing too much for the students. But looking back, I can understand why I continue to do that despite enduring barrage of angry words from her.

I like to sing. Perfoming is enjoyable for me. But nothing beats the feeling of knowing I have the power to transform the lives of others in front of me. Nothing beats the feeling of getting a certain Amos Ang who has never really taken part in a singing competition before to win Teenage Icon. Nothing beats the feeling of the inspiring thought of calling Clara when she was on holiday, asking her to join Campus Superstar and seeing her thru all the way of that beautiful journey. Nothing beats Joy screaming in estacy over the sms declaring her throat doesnt hurt anymore due to using the right technique. Nothing beats transforming Charlene's life by sharing The Art of Music with her juz by providing her some financial assistance in terms of pricing even though there were violent objections from a former partner. Nothing beats seeing Tiffany being able to hold her own fort right now in contrast with the first day I started teaching her. Nothing beats enlightening Celine from being confused and doubtful of her own singing abilities-- due to some comments given by Anthony-- to opening her own school to challenge even Anthony himself.

I have even understood that I have been working with The Secret without knowing it actually. It's no wonder I have always been very hopeful when students go for competitions and stuff instead of a previous colleague of mine who let other judges influence her judgement of her own students. I am grateful that I am able to put all these behind and concentrate on continuing to work with my students in this manner. And that is why I genuinely believes in the logo of the school. It's from the heart that I give. I fully understand it yesterday.

Now I can also understand the advice given to me: When the voice and vision on the inside become more profound and clear than the opinions on the outside, then you have mastered your life. Yes.. my mission in life is what I give myself. I know clearly what it is and I will continue to work for it.

Quote of the day: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach the man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Teach the man to teach others to fish, and you can feed the world.

I dont know where this quote comes from. But the third line is something new for a lot of people. Thats why I am sharing it.

Thank you Agnes for being there yesterday when I reacted. Thank you Sylvia for the appreciating words a few weeks ago. And thank you all for celebrating my birthday with me. I appreciate every single gesture and kinds words from all of you. Especially Matt. You have been exceptional. Your mail that day was more than welcome. Thank you Tiff for helping me to develop the younger ones. You always have my utmost trust in you and your abilities, no matter what others said or have said in the past. I thank you all....

Belief..

Stan came in on Saturday to teach. He pulled me over to a corner and we started talking. He told me that he is kinda burnt out and dun really feel like teaching anymore. Hmmm.. he is giving up something that he really loves because he simply cannot cope with the rigours of work in the weekdays and trying to do more in the weekends. He just switched his job from insurance in CitiBank to coporate loans in StandardChartered. And of course.. he dun seem to enjoy his work.

I am not picking on Stan in this story or anyone in particular. I want to make a point. I was sharing it with the students who were here on Saturday, including Matt, Ben, Sylvia, Minru... The best thing you can ever do in life is to be able to work on something that you have a passion in. And when you have that passion, you probably will enjoy every minute of your life. Almost everyone spent the most time of their days at work, and it will be so meaningful to be able to do something you love.

I think a lot of us in AOM wouldnt really wanna hold an office job (I think so!!) . I wanted to show everyone The Secret because I dun want all of you to be cynical about your dreams. The greatest people in the world dare to dream big and they always believe it will happen. They might not know how it is going to come about but they still believe it. I have 2 real life cases of my friends in the form of Kelly and Meimei and certainly they didnt know how it was going to happen for them when they first started out. No matter. They are here where they are now because of one word: Belief.

Quote of the day: Real success is finding your lifework in the work that you love.

Yes.. find something that you love. Dun delay and act now!!! And yes.. If Amos Ang is not reading this.. please send him this link!!!

Quote of the day: Whether you think you can or you cant, either way you are right. - Henry Ford

Yes.. Belief is the topic for the quote. When you believe you can, you are definitely right. So believe in yourself you can ace everything. Hahaha..
