Farewell Lydia...

The other big news that came out from Hong Kong other than involving a certain Mr Chen is the passing on of Ms Lydia Sum. I think it's a big blow to the entertainment scene in Hong Kong and probably Asia. I grew up watching some of her shows and of course I love them, especially, It's a Mad Mad World, in which she starred alongside Bill Tung.

The news affected quite a bit because of my personal encouter with Lydia. The year was 2001 and Lydia sent her daugther Xin Yee to LWS to learn singing. Of course, at that point of time i was already there and i got to know Lydia as someone who is really friendly and never put on any airs even though she was a well-known celebrity. She and Samuel Chong accompanied Xin Yee for every training and Lydia was very friendly to the staff at LWS.

I hope Xin Yee can go from strength to strength. I fully understand the pain of losing someone so dear to you but i hope she will be able to stand up and make her mother proud. I know she will.

To Lydia, thank you for the entertainment you have brought us over these years. you have been a perfect role model for a lot of celebrities. Your legacy will live on... at least in my heart.

THE SCANDAL

I know it's Lunar New Year.. but the news that has been hogging the headlines for the past few weeks is definitely not about CNY. Instead, it was Edison Chen, Bobo Chan, Gillian Chung, Cecilia Cheung and other celebrities who were under scrutiny. And I am sure a lot of you would know what it was all about.

Of course, the whole incident has affected all the people involved tremendously in all areas of their lives. Everyone is pointing their fingers at Edison and personally, I believe he should shoulder most of the blame. Nobody should dry their dirty linen in public and if you do have anything to hide from the public eye, it's your personal responsibility to make sure you keep your 'prized possessions' well-hidden.

I always maintain that idols should upkeep their images and status as role models. It's one of the most important thing I tell my artistes or those under artiste training.

Anw, I do enjoyed my Chinese New Year holidays. Here wishing all of you out there a very prosperous Lunar New Year!!

Love
