Passion..
Today's topic sprang out of my head while I was watching this TV programme. It was actually a variety show or rather a singing competition. There were some issues involved and one of the competitor had to withdraw due to some reasons.
The farewell was elaborate. Actually not. It was touching. I think everyone cried. A lot of touching words were spoken. But one important thing was certain... the passion that everyone had for singing was there to be seen. The way they put it, these competitors do not care about the prize money or the fame that comes about with it. All they wanted to do was to share their music with the world.
This issue seems to be bugging me for quite some time. I think locally... It doesnt seem to be the case at all. I think money, fame and the rest of the more definite things come before passion. I shall not name names here but our local competition Project Superstar, I know of a few contestants who actually threw a lot of their savings on themselves. Yes.. the richest wins!! Are we in singing for the love of it?
Another time I came upon this forum about learning singing. Some of the members were discussing which school should they join to learn singing. The reasons for discussing some particular schools were because they believe these schools they mentioned would give them a better shot at stardom than others. Interesting?
It's as good as telling me that if I wanna play football, I must play for Manchester United. If I dont get such an option, then I would rather boycott football in my lifetime. There are millions of people with that passion for football, so much so that they are willing to play at lower leagues, getting measly pay just to get a game.
I can say that I am blessed with passionate musicians here at The Art of Music. We are all here because we love music. No doubt about that. There is no greater joy in just doing the things you love. Like Xiaozhi like to quote.. "Follow your Bliss..."
